Old Chico High School Building on the Esplanade
June 17, 2026 Chico History Museum Calls for Photos from Chico High & PV Alumni for Upcoming ExhibitThe Chico History Museum will soon debut an exhibit celebrating the legacies and historic rivalry of Chico High School and Pleasant Valley (PV) High School. Opening this fall and running through 2027, the showcase aligns with major milestones for both institutions: Chico High will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2027 as the city’s oldest high school, while PV High marks 62 years. Next year also marks the 60th anniversary of the Almond Bowl, the legendary annual football game that cemented a vibrant culture of healthy hometown rivalry between the two schools. The Almond Bowl will feature heavily in the exhibit, highlighting decades of respectful competition and local tradition. To bring this history to life, the Chico History Museum is asking alumni from both schools to share personal photos for display. The museum is specifically seeking candid shots not found in standard yearbooks, images that truly capture what daily high school looked like across different eras. “We are so excited to celebrate our local high schools with this exhibit,” said Kelsey Horne, Exhibit Coordinator at the museum. “We really think the community will feel a connection to it, and be excited to share their photos and memories with us.” Alumni and families wishing to contribute are asked to submit copies of their photos, as originals cannot be returned. Submissions can be emailed to info@chicohistorymuseum.org or dropped off in-person Thursday through Sunday, between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the museum, located at 141 Salem Street. All photos collected by August 1st will be considered for the display. For questions or more information, please contact the Chico History Museum at 530-891-4336. About the Chico History Museum: |
