Dave Nopel will draw from family photographs as well as photos and information collected by his father, John Nopel, telling the story of Camp Lassen, upstream from Chico some 35 miles, at Chico Meadows. Dave will touch on the early Boy Scout story in the United States and then in California and Chico. The Boy Scouts would have their first summer camp, Camp Na-Wa-Kwa, in the Humbug Valley just west of Lake Almoner, but would move their summer camp to Chico Meadows in 1934. Pictures will portray Camp Lassen from it’s construction down to today, where its very future is threatened by the swirling circumstances of our present day.
