Chico area citizens are very lucky to have an open space that is home to galaxies of trees and wildflowers, acorn woodpecker families, many butterfly species, still migrating salmon, an occasional black bear, and much more. This special space is of course Bidwell Park, and Bidwell Park also has a fascinating human social history that shows differences in people and their values and routines, and different thoughts about a park and the park’s place and uses in the Chico community. Paul Belz has been researching, recording, and collecting information on Bidwell Park for several years, and he will base this presentation on his upcoming book about Chico’s Bidwell Park. Come and celebrate this amazing place.
