Speakers: Michele Shover and Dave Nopel

In commemoration of the 150 years since Chico's incorporation under the State of California in 1872, Michele Shover and Dave Nopel will look back at several dates, people and events that might be considered earlier beginnings for the Chico community we know today. The Mexican era land grants of the 1840's, John Bidwell's "striking it rich" on the Feather River in 1848, his purchase of land in the Chico area in 1849-50, the cluster of buildings that emerged at "Bidwell's", the survey and laying out of a street grid in 1860, and more.

You can also enjoy the new 150 years of Chico exhibit and other showcases. Birthday cake and drinks will be served.
