CHICO AND THE RACE FOR THE WEST

Jeremy Markley is pursuing a Masters in Public Administration at Chico State. He will look back at the Maidu peoples of the Chico area and the entangled interests of the Spanish, Mexicans, British, French, Russians and upstart Americans as advancing technology, imperial ambitions, and shifting cultures began to give shape to the California we know today.
