Description

THE CHANGING FACES OF CHICO’S DOWNTOWN Presented by Dr Kathleen Gabriel on September 11, 2021 From 1905 to 1971, Chico’s population grew from approximately 6,875 to over 42,000. During this time, many interesting events occurred such as the 1918 influenza pandemic, Prohibition, and the construction (and later the demolition) of major downtown buildings. Kathleen Gabriel, author of “Chico Memories 1905-1971: Featuring the Bartlett Drug Company”, will present major and minor “Chico happenings” during this period of the 20th Century. Kathleen grew up in Chico, attended Chico schools, and has had a long career in teaching here in Chico and elsewhere. Chico History Museum Lecture Series - Fall, 2021
