Dr. Michele J. Shover Award Ceremony

Chico History Museum and the Chico Heritage Association will be presenting an award to Dr. Michele Shover at 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 25, 2021. The award recognizes Dr. Shover’s prolific work in uncovering and preserving the history of Chico and its environs, including the histories of local women and minority communities and their significant but previously unrecognized contributions to our shared past.


Dr. Shover served on the faculty of the Political Science Department at Chico State for 37 years, including six as department chair. She also has served as a union leader and women’s rights advocate, and her contributions to the betterment of the Chico community are many.


The award ceremony will be held on the grounds of the Stansbury House on the corner of 5th and Salem Streets in downtown Chico. Seating and light refreshments will be available. The organizers ask attendees not fully vaccinated to wear a mask.
